Landscape Lighting Maintenance

Landscape lighting is one of the best ways to welcome guests along the front walk of a home or to create a great atmosphere around the patio. These low voltage or solar powered lights are easy to install, but over time they will need a little maintenance.

Often, the low voltage fixtures will stop working because corrosion builds up on the metal contacts inside the bulb socket. You can remedy this by removing the corrosion with a small piece of sandpaper or an emery board, and then spraying some electrical contact cleaner into the socket.

Solar powered models are less prone to this problem; however, you may have to replace the batteries inside the fixture that store the power generated during daylight hours. Depending on the manufacturer, the replacement may be something as simple as a rechargeable double-A battery.
