One of the drawbacks to sealing up the cracks around the perimeter of your home is the increase in indoor air pollution. Stale air can quickly become less than pleasant, with lingering odors from cooking, laundry, pets, and even breathing.

That’s why it’s important for your air exchange to operate efficiently. But here’s a simple trick for quickly eliminating those smells.

Scatter six or seven drops of essential oil over the air filter the next time you change it. Use vanilla, lemon, almond, cinnamon, or any of your own personal favorites. The air movement through the filter will distribute the fragrance of these oils to every room in the house.
