I’m looking for advice on how to correct a sagging brick wall that was originally built on top of a sidewalk, which is now sinking causing the bricks to sag.

I would like to remove the steps I have and create half-moon shaped steps from my house down to the concrete patio I have. Can I use Quikrete to do that or have a concrete company to come and pour?

I live in my parents 38 yr. old log home. The condensation line is a pvc pipe that runs under the slab, then under the driveway, coming out visible where it drains in a small ditch. When it rains, the ditch water submerges the pipe. My dad is convinced that the water can still drain even when the pipe is under water. However, when the pipe is under water, the a/c has a horrible smell. Unit is brand new (under 2 years). Should something be done to keep the pipe opening free from the standing water?

My garage door opener opens the door but when I press it to close, it does not close. What can I do to make it close?

I would like to paint our paneling, but I don’t want it to look like painted paneling. Any advice?

I am trying to find weatherstripping for a grooved front door and having no luck. What is partly there is a small (plastic/ vinyl) stripping that slides into the grove. It is only half an inch wide and seals when door is closed. I have a couple of pictures of it I could send you. I have searched all over the web to no avail. If this is not possible, maybe there is a substitute?

We are redoing 230 square feet of tile in our front hallway. We are using 12×24″ tile. Should we use plywood and cement board or can we just use plywood for the subfloor? I know the subfloor must be really sturdy but because of the size of the tile I’m worried that overtime they may break? If we do use cement board and plywood I’m guessing we’ll have to use a thinset in between the two and then screw the cement board with a countersink. Can you please provide advice?

How do you prevent condensation when installing a radiant heat floor over a concrete slab foundation?

Can you tell me what to use on my lawn in order to get rid of bald spots? My neighbor’s trees tower over my yard and I think this may be a hindrance, but they are not going to trim their trees. Also, I have a steel roof that appears to be leaking from some of the seams. What can I do to stop the leaks?

Jaime
I plan on using the space in the attic above my garage as a bonus room. What type of insulation should I use in the ceiling and is it necessary to insulate between the floor and the garage?

Zea
Do you think duct cleaning is a scam? I had someone out to my house and they tried to pressure me into an upsell of cleaning each standing unit (I have two) for $700 each, plus wanted me to purchase life time air filters for $250. The cleaning alone was $520!!

I have 2 beautiful exterior entry doors facing west. The sun really bleaches and is drying the doors. What is the best way to temporarily save and restore these beautiful doors? At the moment, I cannot hire a contractor…. can you give me a quick fix that I can do for a temporary fix?

Matthew
Is it better to remove or leave alone the ivy growing on top of an unattended old flagstone/mortar wall?
