Here are some tips to keep in mind when trying to eradicate a flea problem caused by an indoor pet in your home:
- Flea Life Cycle: Fleas have a life cycle of 2 to 3 weeks, and most treatments kill either the eggs or the adult fleas but not both. Be sure to repeat the treatment to break the flea life cycle, or treat for both eggs and adult fleas during the 2 to 3 weeks period.
- Vacuum Home: Make sure to vacuum your house frequently and thoroughly if you find fleas. This can help get rid of fleas in carpets, rugs, furniture, and pet bedding.
- Vacuum Cleaner Bags: Throw the vacuum bag away outside when finished to keep fleas from crawling back out of it. In addition, you can add flea powder to the vacuum cleaner bag before vacuuming to kill any fleas that are vacuumed up.
