Building a deck starts with a sturdy foundation. The foundation needs to be able to easily support the weight of the deck materials plus the live load of those using it. Here are the steps I take when constructing the foundation for a deck.
Since porch flooring and railings are exposed to the elements, they can rot over time. When repairing or replacing rotten wood on a porch, be sure to use rot resistant materials and paint or stain all sides and ends.
Man-made composite material and natural wood can both be used for decking, but there are some significant differences between them in terms of durability and cost. Watch this video to find out which one is right for you.
Maintenance of a wood deck takes more than just power washing, you’ll also need to remove leaves and other debris from between the boards. To do this, screw an “L” hook to the end of a broom handle, then use it to remove debris. Watch this video to find out more.
