We replaced our 30-year-old steel siding with “maintenance-free” vinyl siding when we had an addition added to our home twelve years ago. Since then, our siding becomes covered in green mold on all sides of the house except the south facing rear. We do not have any trees close to the house that could be causing this problem. We have power-washed the house every two years to try to keep the problem in check, but it seems to be escalating to the point that we would like to replace the siding, but don’t want to do so if we can’t find out what products would prevent this from happening all over again.
