By: Danny Lipford

Low-E glass has many advantages:

  • The Low-E coating reflects heat back to its source so it helps your home stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
  • The coating won’t scratch off because it is applied to the inside of the glass.
  • It help protects against UV fading of any near by furniture.
  • It requires no special cleaning.

Hey Sue, my theory is they accidentally but the loE might be reversed and the coating could be on the outside instead of in between the pane of glass. I’m a profession window cleaner and notice for time to time the window on the outside or inside of the glass feel different and is hard to do a construction clean on them, like getting off the paint and silicone, etc. I’d check with the manufacturer and see if that’s the problem. Or it could be a broken seal. Hope this helps.

Will low-e glass in a storm door protect a wood entry door from sun damage such as fading and cracking and peeling of the finish on the wood door?

None of this info is helpful. We installed low e glass windows in our house a couple of months ago and they are all sweating when the temperatures are cold outside. Is it a manufactor defect or just bad windows? They were purchased from Window World. Suposedly best money can buy.
