Wireless, remote controlled lighting systems provide increased comfort, convenience, aesthetics, security, and energy savings. Automated lighting systems use a central wireless router to control special light switches so you can program all your lighting inside and outside your home with settings for time of day, location, and various scenes to fit any occasion.

    The only complication that most people might have is with not having a white wire (common) in the switch box. We’ve run into this with houses just 10 years old…

    Is this something that the average home owner can install himself? Brand name?

    It should be noted that some systems use both RF and PL (power line) for fault tolerance. The central controller plugs into a wall outlet and has an antenna as well. I am currently experimenting with 2 systems and there is a world of difference between them as far as reliability goes so choose carefully!
