Moving appliances is never fun, but it can be made somewhat easier by using a hand truck (also referred to as a dolly). Whether you buy or rent one of these tools, you’ll want to protect your appliances and your floors before using it.

Foam rubber pipe insulation taped around the vertical rails of the hand truck will insure that the truck doesn’t scratch the items being moved. Also create a path of cardboard or drop cloths to roll the hand truck across, because any sand or grit on the rubber wheels will scratch hard surface floors because of the weight on the hand truck.
