When you walk on decorative stepping stones, you want to walk, not rock!

But sometimes, stone paths like this one present a big problem. Over time, some of the stones rock because of settling.

This is not only embarrassing when guests come over; it also creates a tripping and falling hazard.

Let’s face it: You don’t want to raise guests’ eyebrows due to rocking stepping stones that won’t stay in place, and worse, you don’t want to take the hit on your homeowners insurance, should someone fall.

So, we’re gonna repair these stones to level your yard as soon as we notice they’re not so steady anymore! All you need to do is get yourself one special ingredient — that’s all.

The easiest, quickest way to level stepping stones is just pouring in some sand. Buy a big bag of sand at the home and garden center and spread it out to help level out the stone — and then simply flip over the stone and put it back in place.

Ordinarily, you would use a rubber mallet to pound the stone into the sand; in this case, I’ll use a dead-blow hammer to do the job.

You should leave the stone a little high; over time, after a few rainstorms, the sand will settle in.

And now your stepping stone path is perfectly safe, usable and ready for guests to walk on!
