When spraying paint on your house, such as priming the metal flashing under a roof, it’s important to use a shield to keep overspray off nearby objects you don’t want painted.

While you can buy metal paint shields, a less expensive solution is to cut a cardboard box into strips, and slip it under the roofing. Cardboard shields work well for other spray paint applications as well, since they can be cut to any size and are free.
