Extreme winds can damage your home, with windows and roofs being the most vulnerable areas. The least expensive way to protect windows is by covering them with 1/2″ to 3/4″ plywood. Start by measuring the size of the window opening, then cut the plywood 1/2” smaller than the total size of the opening for an easy fit. Attach plywood to the windows with screws or special spring clips.

Other options for protecting windows include fabric panels which weigh much less, allow light into the home, and are easier to put than plywood.
