Danny Lipford: Hi, I’m Danny Lipford with Today’s Homeowner and yes it’s possible to completely change the look of your kitchen in just three days. Even though they were three busy days, we did it with this kitchen.

We started out with a burnt orange color on the cabinets, it looked like it had been there since the ’80s. And we attacked that first by sanding, priming, and painting that. New countertop, new sink, new faucet, curtains, and a new range hood—all of that looks great, makes it look so much better.

But a very important part of it is what holds it all together, and that’s a number of glues and adhesives from the Titebond family. First of all I used the wood glue on building all of the cabinets that we put here above the range. And then the construction adhesive I used to glue down and install the countertops. And then we used the special kitchen and bath sealant to make sure the kitchen sink would never leak.

Now, one of the things that I’ve found when we’re remodeling kitchens that a lot of people don’t even think about is proper ventilation. We took care of that by installing a brand new Broan range hood, And this particular one has got some really neat features. How the lights come on real slowly—you’ve got several different intensities. You have the fan here that has several different speeds.

And it’s very energy efficient, very easy to keep clean. And the most important thing about ventilation is that you move that moisture and the odors all the way to the outside, not just in the attic. Very simple to put single wall pipe in order to accomplish that. So that makes a big difference.

And I’ll tell you what, when we replaced the countertops, which—this is actually a plastic laminate that looks very much like granite. But while we were doing that, we replaced the sink and the faucet. And this faucet is from Moen, and it’s called the Walden. It’s pretty cool. It’s spot resistant, that’s great for these days.

And it also has the pullout sprayer—has the two different sprays—that’s pretty cool. But here’s the key thing, some of the lesser quality faucets, that’s what you’re going to see a lot. But here this will reflex right back into there every single time. It’s called Reflex Technology from Moen.

And the good thing about it, you know you take a style like this, which is very trendy, a vintage classic style, and you look at this being pretty expensive, it’s only a hundred and ninety-eight dollars at The Home Depot.

So there’s a lot of ways that you can improve your kitchen in a short amount of time without spending a lot of money or a lot of time. So that makes a big, big difference.
