Recycle Ink Cartridges to Reduce Waste and Save Money
By: Danny Lipford
Throwing away used ink or toner cartridges might not seem like it would have an impact on the environment; but over 300 million toner and ink cartridges are thrown away each year, adding thousands of tons of waste to landfills.
Recycling or refilling ink and toner cartridges not only reduces waste and helps the environment, it saves 75% over the cost of new ink cartridges.

You may not think something this small could ever have an impact, but if you were to place all the ink cartridges used in the United States every year end to end, it would stretch from the west coast to the east coast and back again. Here’s another surprising fact, it takes just under one gallon of oil to produce only one of these cartridges. That’s a good reason to recycle your old cartridges.
And, if that’s not incentive enough, consider this. Buying recycled cartridges can cost you up to 75% less than getting new ones. The sad news is that every year over 300 million toner and inkjet cartridges are thrown away. This equates to almost 1,000 tons of unnecessary pollution that enters our waste stream every day, and it takes over 450 years for an ink cartridge to decompose.
So help save the planet and a lot of your own cash. Recycle those cartridges.
