Painting your kitchen cabinets can be a great weekend project. Here are some tips on how to go about it:

  1. Remove the existing door and drawer fronts.
  2. Clean the doors, drawers, and cabinets thoroughly to remove any dirt or grease.
  3. Fill any unwanted hinge or knobs holes and imperfections using automotive body filler.
  4. After the filler has set, sand it down flush with the surface.
  5. Use liquid deglosser or fine sandpaper to remove the gloss so the paint will adhere to the surface.
  6. Apply a coat of primer using a brush, roller, or sprayer.
  7. Apply two topcoats of paint and allow to dry.
  8. Replace the hardware on the doors and drawer fronts and reattach to the cabinets.

    Hi, Ibrahim,
We don’t offer project estimates or quotes on construction materials, as this varies by location, but we encourage checking your local phone listings for suppliers and accurate, up-to-date quotes.
    Good luck!

How would the cost compare between paying to having your kitchen cabinets painted, (since I would be unable to do the work myself), or purchasing and having new ones installed?
Love your show with super ideas and work, and your great sense of humor tops it off.

Using an airless sprayer to paint kitchen cabinet doors ? It appears to me that the spray gun being used is not airless ?

Watched the video. My makeover starts soon. Questions:
    1. I need detailed instruction on hanging the doors on the ropes for painting. Is that some type of hook? How is it fastened to the door?
    2. Allen, I saw you demonstrate on one of the shows how to clean a cabinet door. You had a sponge and put it in a solution, then heated the sponge in the microwave? What was the solution? Vinegar and water? What is the ratio?
    You guys are life savers.
    Thanks, Doris
