Watching clothes in cold water is a great way to save energy.

Going green when washing and drying your clothes may be easier than you think. Here are a few tips to reduce the amount of energy and water you use on your laundry:

  • Buy an Energy Star rated Clothes Washer to reduce the energy used by 30% and water by 50% compared to standard models.
  • Wash your clothes in cold water as much as possible.
  • Air dry your laundry rather than using a clothes dryer to reduce the energy used.

Thank you for these tips. I have seen the dryer balls but thought it just a gimmick. Now I know they arent. Also, if clothes are turned inside out when washed, they don’t fade as fast because they don’t rub against each other. Thank you for your newsletter. Elaine
